- Login to your WordPress admin dashboard, ‘yourdomain.com/wp-admin’
- Navigate to Plugin section from left dashboard
- Click on”Add New”
- As shown in above image, click on “search plugins” and enter name of required WordPress plugin, such as “contact form” or any other.
- Once, you find the required plugin, click on”install” and then “Activate” to use it. (as shown in below image)
Once, you activate a WordPress plugin, it is ready to use with your website.
How to upload and activate WordPress plugin
As we discussed earlier, a plugin needs to be available in WordPress directory to install it from search. However, some paid plugin are not available to install through this process and for that, it needs to be uploaded and activated manually.

- Login to your WordPress admin dashboard, ‘yourdomain.com/wp-admin’
- Navigate to Plugin section from left dashboard
- Click on”Add New”
- Click on “Upload Plugin” as shown in image below.
After that, a different panel will open to upload plugin.
5. Select your plugin file ( must be in .zip) and upload it.

7. Once installed, you need to click on the Activate Plugin link to start using the plugin.
